  24. Just one general question:

Do you keep the space between the tacks of an album, or do you cut/remaster each tack separate?

    ReplyDelete

  47. Thank you so much for all the time, money, hard work & most of all, for sharing the fruits of your labours with us.
I particularly appreciate the 24/96 lossless files - squeezing this stuff down to anything less would be a waste IMO.

  56. Thank you for this - it was a wonderful way to revisit (and in a way understand for the first time) this psych classic. Listening also to Unconditionally Guaranteed and I can see that the Cap also wrote sweet love songs early in his career. Thank you!

  57. have a stereo copy since i was teen, never came across a mono copy...til NOW...many sincere thanks for your efforts here. MONO "Something Else" by the Kinks next ??? one of my holiest relics is a MONO copy of "kinks greatest hits" that I unsealed myself a few years ago....did I say thanks already?

  58. I find I'm unable to download your material on a Mac. Regrettable,as your site is fantastic. Anyone with advice for using a Mac here would be most welcome. long may you run!

  59. ¡Muchas gracias, profe!

  60. I have this in stereo but, I decided to hear what the Captain sounded like in mono. Thank you for your hard work. I used to have an Acoustic Research turntable. It needed some work and I was encouraged to just get rid of it. Later, I regretted it. Nothing like a good turntable. Thanks again.

  61. Sounds great as always

    ReplyDelete
  62. I have original copies of the US stereo and UK mono and I must say this one is a real blast! Thanks for the HQ rip from a pristine source and for your dedication in sharing!!!

  67. Hi, when I click the link, it takes me to a text uploader?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Thank you for this! I am so excited to hear the original version at last. Own the 1999 Buddha CD and a 1980´s UK fold down vinyl.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Excellent crisp sound, best I've heard this.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I have a nice vinyl copy that I got second hand when I was about 16 and listened to constantly.

  73. I've yet to find a rip of Strictly Personal that sounds fantastic. Apparently there's a mono version that those who've heard it rate highly. I'm not the only one who'd appreciate the Prof giving us what the music industry has failed to! How about it?

    ReplyDelete
  74. The best album the Captain ever released. Thank you for posting the TRUE mono mix (Sundazed version sounds like shit).

    ReplyDelete
  75. Great, thanks Prof, looking forward to hearing it as originally intended!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Excellent! Many thanks

    ReplyDelete
  77. Thank you, Prof. Stoned.
It will be interesting to see how this compares to my old worn Marble Arch copy that I acquired second hand as a teenager and played to death. :)
    Cheers,

    1. Hi. You mean this one?

      https://www.discogs.com/release/375767-Captain-Beefheart-And-His-Magic-Band-Safe-As-Milk

That's a reduction from the stereo mix. Mono mix was only released in the USA in 67.

  78. Thank you so much for this! I was disappointed to read about the issues with the CD release of the mono mix. I have two different versions of this in stereo, but it is one of those albums where I wanted the mono due to early stereo mix styles.

  79. Thanks so much for all the time and effort you put into these treasures

  85. Many thanks Prof, been wanting to hear this for a while!

  86. The Anti-Negativity Police™ on the Steve Hoffman Forum insist that the Sundazed LP is wonderful and well worth purchasing. But I came here anyway to download the inferior original pressing. I want to hear what it sounds like through the expensive and highly resolving but improperly wired stereo system listed in my equipment profile.

  87. Loving your upgrades on BBC sessions. Thanks so much!
